Become a member of the Friends!

The FoBCA depends on membership fees to cover the costs of running its organisation. The membership fee is low, considering the benefits:

  • Your membership donation provides you with an FoBCA card that gives immediate cash benefit to yourself & family to visit the Blaauwberg Conservation Area by not having to pay gate fees nor expectation of a donation at any event organised for your participation in the Reserve. This includes the Eerste Steen resort with its braai picnic facilities right on the beach. The safe parking is popular with beach users and many surf activities
  • Your membership helps contribute to providing essential facilities and equipment for visitors and staff, such as providing equipment for our Alien vegetation clearing (“hacking”) volunteers, comprising both youth and mature members; equipment and training of Archaeology, Botany and Heritage groups operating on the Reserve with the FoBCA etc.
  • You can participate at no cost in the many hikes offered by the FoBCA – the Two Hills Walk, the Battle of Blaauwberg Walk, etc.
  • You can become the eyes and ears to warn the authorities of activities or threats that could harm the conservation of both natural and cultural heritage in our area
  • You can contribute by participating in our volunteer groups according to your personal interests or start a new group if your experience, knowledge and enthusiasm is currently not represented
  • You can attend the many interesting talks, presentation and events arranged by the FoBCA on various topics.

  • Pay via EFT according to your chosen membership type and duration. 
  • Complete our Online Membership Form, attach your proof of EFT payment and submit.  You will receive an email saying your application has been received.
  • Alternatively, download the Membership Form, complete and email the form along with your proof of payment to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

NB - Applications are only processed once proof of payment is received.

A printed copy of your proof of payment serves as proof of membership until you receive your membership card.

Card Collection Notifications are emailed once new cards are issued. Collection is at the security kiosk, Eerste Steen Resort.

The FoBCA membership year runs from 1 April to 31 March.  All memberships expire on 31 March.  At the discretion of the FoBCA committee, those joining within a few months of expiry may be granted extended membership.  Fees are subject to change without notice.

Corporate Membership

CORPORATE MEMBERSHIP is available for businesses, but only through our Online Membership Form and is subject to FoBCA committee approval.  Please provide a registered company number along with the business contact’s ID number in the ID number field.  Also provide a written motivation why your business would like to become a member of the FoBCA in the “Other Information” field for the committee’s consideration.

If approved and once proof of payment has been received, the FoBCA issues one card in the name of the business, giving FoBCA benefits to up to 16 adults. (For example free entry to Eerste Steen Resort for up to 16 adults entering the resort all together, showing the membership card.)

By accepting FoBCA Corporate membership the business agrees to abide by all FoBCA and Blaauwberg Nature Reserve rules and is responsible in conveying these rules to all their visitors. Any misconduct will not be tolerated and will result in immediate FoBCA membership termination and banning from BBNR. 

Current fees are R960 for the FoBCA year expiring 31 March 2026.
