A CREW (Custodians for Rare and Endangered Wildflowers) group conducts a monthly guided botany walk on the Coastal Dune Trail. It normally occurs on the first Saturday of the month and is open to the public. A pocket guide is also available that provides valuable assistance when walking the Coastal Dune Trail. It contains photographs and descriptions of the various flowers the visitor can see in the area, depending on the month of the year. The Guide is for sale at Starke Ayres, Table View.
Anyone interested in learning about and looking for plants is welcome to join the CREW team on its regular public walks. You will need a camera and be willing to upload your observations to iNaturalist (training will be provided). A high level of fitness is definitely not essential. For more information on the Flora on the Blaauwberg Nature Reserve, click here. The walk can last as long as 3 hours depending on the interest, but participants can turn back earlier.
