Botanical Walk

Description

BOOKING is essential!

The CREW (Custodians of Rare and Endangered Wildflowers) team will take you on a slow walk to study the flora on the Coastal Dune Trail, starting at Eerste Steen in the Blaauwberg Nature Reserve. The Coastal Dune trail is between the R27 and Otto du Plessis Rd.

Experts will show you the interesting species along this route, how they co-exist, are pollinated, defend themselves against predators, and survive in this typical Cape Flats Dune Strandveld. There are always unique plants flowering at a certain time of the year, which the leaders will highlight. To see which plants flower in the Reserve at this time, follow this link:

If you have a loupe (magnifier), please remember to bring it along. If there is rain, it will be an indoor study of the plants. You can turn back at any time en route.
